An experienced Learning Officer is required to join the newly formed Croydon Heritage Service, working with Croydon Archives and Museum of Croydon collections and staff. The Officer will be responsible for developing a curriculum-linked heritage education offer for learners of all ages centred around Croydon’s rich heritage, to be delivered in the Museum, schools and community settings such as libraries. This offer will include facilitating visits to the Croydon Clocktower exhibitions, managing loan boxes of artefacts and developing resources for educators. The Officer will also be responsible for contributing to children and family activities in school holidays, and facilitating co-curation of Heritage Service exhibitions with schools.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a track record of shaping and delivering an educational offer in a museum, archive or cultural heritage setting, preferably within a localised service. A qualification in Museum Education, teaching or similar is essential, as is a demonstratable interest in history and heritage, and a desire to learn more about the fascinating and diverse story of Croydon. We are looking for a strong self-starter familiar with the barriers schools face in accessing museum resources, with excellent networking and partnership skills. Experience developing and/or delivering funded projects is essential and writing grant proposals desirable.
