An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Legal Services team, based on the South Coast in Worthing Town Centre, West Sussex, providing a joint legal service to Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council.
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial post-qualification experience in Property Law and Practice, to act as an advanced Property Lawyer for the councils.
Reporting to the Senior Lawyer & Team Leader the successful candidate will:
Have developed knowledge of property law and practice, knowledge of planning law is desirable.
Participate in the continuous development and improvement of Legal Services through engagement with the service’s Management Team.
Undertake both contentious and non-contentious legal business, managing and providing quality legal services to all levels of the Councils and assisting the Chief Governance & Legal Officer (MO) in the provision of corporate legal advice.
Regularly advise Members and Senior Officers, and attend Council committee meetings which will involve some evening work.
Have excellent communication and negotiating skills; the ability to apply the law to complex issues and provide clear, accurate legal advice; and be an excellent team player.
