This is a senior leadership position with wide-reaching impact, responsible for driving core central functions and ensuring high-quality service delivery that reflects the strategic ambitions and shared values of both councils.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you’ll lead on key corporate functions including strategy, policy, performance, risk management, climate change, and data insight. You will also oversee strategic external relationships—particularly with central government—and play a vital role in driving collaboration, cultural alignment, and change across both councils.

You’ll act as a visible and proactive leader, providing clear, inspiring direction to staff, partners, Councillors, and stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and credible professional with a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams across complex portfolios in the public sector or a similarly complex environment. You’ll bring a strong background in corporate policy, strategy, performance, and transformation, along with a collaborative leadership style that inspires confidence across political and professional boundaries.

Your knowledge of the public sector will ensure that the work of both councils is delivered in line with their shared values, strategic priorities, and commitment to continuous improvement.

If you're ready to make a meaningful impact across two ambitious councils and shape services that make a real difference to our communities, we’d love to hear from you.
