We are recruiting for an Internal Communications Officer to join our Internal Communications Team, within the Communications and Marketing Service.

The Internal Communications Officer plays a key role in ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational priorities.

You will be responsible for planning, creating and delivering clear, consistent and compelling internal communications to support culture, change programmes, events, leaderships and day to day operational updates. This role will help build a connected workforce and strengthen our employee experience.

In this role, you will:

  • help to deliver a high quality, comprehensive internal communications service across the Council, including all sites.
  • support the delivery of our internal communications strategy.
  • translate complex information into clear, accessible messages for diverse audiences.
  • lead on or support communications plans, working closely with services to create and deliver effective and measurable campaigns.
  • assist in drafting urgent or sensitive internal messaging during incidents or operational disruptions.
  • monitor communications performance across channels, using analytics, feedback and engagement metrics.
  • innovate and introduce new ways of working to constantly improve our offer.

About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and experience of delivering internal communications for an organisation.
  • Excellent written communication and copy writing skills.
  • Experience in working with staff and senior management.
  • Strong partnership working skills and the ability to assess complex issues.
  • Great communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
