Castle Point Borough Council is seeking a motivated and highly organised Interim Support Officer to join our Environment Service within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a great opportunity to play a central role in supporting the delivery of essential frontline services that keep our borough clean, safe and well-maintained.
You’ll provide vital business, administrative and project support across a wide range of environmental operations including street cleansing, grounds maintenance, parks and open spaces, cemeteries, allotments, car parks and public conveniences. Your work will help ensure services run efficiently, contracts are well-managed, performance is monitored, and customers, Members and MPs receive timely, high-quality responses.
Day to day, you’ll be involved in contract performance reporting, financial reconciliation, compliance administration, service enquiries, SafetyCulture data management, and supporting service improvement projects. You’ll work closely with managers, operational teams, contractors and stakeholders — so strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities are essential.
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, confident with data and systems, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment. Experience in local government, environmental services, SafetyCulture or MiPermit, along with a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work is desirable, but not essential.
If you want to make a real impact in a service that touches every resident and visitor in Castle Point, we’d love to hear from you.
Not only is this a great role for the right candidate but you also get some great benefits including:
- 27 days Annual leave (pro rata for part time post)
- FREE Gym membership

The Council is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, and we expect all our employees to share this commitment.
