About the Role

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s (LCRCA) Evidence, Research and Intelligence service creates evidence and insight to inform, underpin and support policy, strategy and investment decisions taken across the LCRCA.

We are looking to appoint an Interim Head of Spatial and Strategic Evidence on a one year fixed term basis to lead the development and implementation of strategic evidence projects across a range of policy areas, with a particular focus on economic development and place-based regeneration (including housing and transport).

This is a critical post at an important time for the Combined Authority. As our devolution journey progresses, there is increasing reliance on and scrutiny of our evidence base to inform strategy development and to support devolution discussions. At the same time, we want to further enhance our capability to analyse and understand our evidence base spatially, so that we are well placed to develop and deliver integrated, placed based investments and activities for the benefit of the whole City Region.

The Interim Head of Strategic and Spatial Evidence will report to the Assistant Director of Evidence, Research and Intelligence and will work with stakeholders across the Combined Authority to implement strategic evidence projects which cut across the ERI’s technical work areas and highlight strategic implications and messages, linked to corporate priorities and the evolving national policy agenda.

This is a 12 month fixed term role.


About the person

The post holder will work as part of the ERI Service’s Senior Management Team and work collaboratively with teams across the ERI service, drawing on their resources and inputs as required to inform strategic evidence projects. This includes teams focused on economic analysis, transport analysis, evidence and modelling, citizen insight and participation, research and evaluation and delivery planning and performance reporting.

We are looking for an experience economic development professional with significant experience of designing and implementing evidence and analytical projects to inform economic development policy, strategy and investment. The idea candidate will have strong knowledge and understanding of the strategic and economic context for the LCRCA and the wider national policy context in which the organisation operates.

Salary range

  • £90,733 - £101,871 per year
