Upcoming Projects

As our Information Governance Officer, you’ll be involved in:

  • Coordinating responses to Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and Data Protection requests.
  • Supporting the Council’s compliance with new and emerging information governance legislation.
  • Improving our corporate records management and information sharing processes.
  • Contributing to the development of our Publication Scheme and Disclosure Log.
  • Assisting with investigations and reviews, including those led by the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Local Government Ombudsman.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to officers and elected members on information governance matters.
  • Process and log data breaches, ensuring remedial actions are taken.
  • Manage requests for information, applying relevant exemptions and redactions.
  • Maintain Council registers, including “Unreasonable Behaviour” and Publication Scheme.
  • Monitor and respond to corporate complaints in line with Council policies.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, regulations, and best practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience handling customer complaints and responding to FOI requests.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, and information management.
  • Strong organisational and office administration skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to advise and influence others.
  • Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (grade 4/C or above) including English, or equivalent.

This role involves regular travel across a wide rural district, with multiple site visits on a regular basis, so the ability to independently and reliably travel as part of your daily duties is essential.

This position is a shared role within the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership (SELCP) and forms part of the S113 agreement between the participating partnership Councils in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement 1st October 2021.
