Make a Difference in Lancaster
As an Independent Living Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting tenants to live safely and independently within our council housing. Your work will promote well-being, community involvement, and ensure high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness across independent living schemes. By acting swiftly on safeguarding concerns and providing a reliable emergency response, you’ll help make Lancaster a safer, more caring place to live.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll deliver local housing management services, including regular home visits to check safety and suitability of accommodation. You’ll maintain daily contact with tenants, assist with lettings and assessments, and manage communal areas and activities. Your role involves overseeing repairs, conducting safety checks, supporting tenants with benefits and financial advice, and working closely with agencies to provide tailored support. You’ll also handle emergencies calmly and professionally, ensuring tenant rights and tenancy agreements are upheld.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have experience in care, support, or housing services, with strong organisational and communication skills. You’re confident working with vulnerable people, understand safeguarding frameworks, and can manage time and records accurately. A positive, flexible attitude and commitment to working collaboratively reflect our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. A full, clean driving licence and access to a car are essential for this role.
