As an Independent Living Officer you will be responsible for the day to day running of a City Council Independent Living scheme, for this role the scheme is at Ripley Court and is a CAT2 scheme , which incorporates 36 flats self-contained flats, communal laundry, communal lounges and gardens.

You will be the key point of contact for tenants providing support and guidance on a wide range of housing and health/social related concerns both from the office on site and in tenants homes.

Your role will also include offering advice and guidance, acting in the best interests of Lancaster City Council and ensuring our tenants feel heard, valued, and supported throughout the process.

You will provide a housing management service for the tenants and support them to sustain their tenancies as required.

You must be capable of demonstrating a sincere commitment to the support of older adults, possess exceptional organisational skills, be customer focused and have good social skills.

You must have a calm, patient disposition with the ability to respond quickly and efficiently in an emergency situation, whilst under pressure.

An understanding of community care and the ability to deal with any situation, as and when it arises, in an efficient and effective way, is essential.

The Independent Living team is a large, dispersed team, when required, you will be expected to provide cover for any of our other Lancaster City Council independent living schemes within the area.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to always delivering outstanding customer service, a high level of attention to detail, excellent record keeping and proven ability to manage workload whist being a lone worker and work well in a dispersed team.
