Salary range: £40,182- £42,060 p.a. inc. London weighting
Contract: Fixed term (24 Months)
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post
The Housing Service is recruiting Income Project Officers to support the delivery of a proactive and customer-focused income management service across Brent.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing service focused on improving income collection, tenancy sustainment, and resident outcomes. Working closely with the Income Maximisation Manager and wider housing teams, you will support targeted projects and interventions aimed at maximising rental income and improving performance across a range of tenures and portfolios.
You will manage complex arrears cases, support early intervention activity, and work collaboratively with residents and internal teams to achieve positive outcomes.
The role will involve delivering project-based work linked to rent recovery, welfare support, legal escalation, and tenancy sustainment.
You will be expected to maintain accurate records, use housing management systems effectively, and ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant legislation, policies, and pre-action protocol.
The role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute to service improvements within a fast-paced housing environment.
The Person
We are looking for motivated and solution-focused individuals with experience in income recovery, rent arrears management, or housing management within a social housing environment.
You will have strong knowledge of welfare benefits, including Universal Credit, and an understanding of rent arrears recovery, the Pre-Action Protocol, and relevant housing legislation relating to tenancy, income, and housing management.
The successful candidates will:
- Have experience managing complex or high-risk arrears cases
- Be confident working with residents to achieve sustainable outcomes
- Have strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Be able to manage competing priorities and work across multiple projects
- Work effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, particularly when managing arrears cases, maintaining records, and reviewing account information
- Maintain accurate records and use housing management systems confidently
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve services and performance
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive, can-do approach
You will be highly organised, self-motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality services that support residents while maximising income collection for the service
