HR OFFICER (PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT)

Salary: Grade G - £39,152 to £42,839 per year, £20.29 to £22.20 per hour (pay award pending)
Hours: 37 hours per week (part time working could be considered)
Type: Permanent
Team Location: Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, NG10 1HU
This role supports hybrid working, with office attendance required 2–3 days each week.
An exciting HR opportunity with a strong people development focus
We are looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys variety and wants to make a visible difference. This is a broad generalist HR role with a specialist focus on training, learning and development, giving you the opportunity to advise managers on employee relations, recruitment and policy while helping to deliver our ambitious People Strategy. From day-to-day HR support to shaping development activity that helps colleagues thrive, this is a role where your expertise will have real impact.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing generalist HR support, including advising managers on employee relations matters and supporting sickness absence management, recruitment, onboarding, and policy development
- Coordinating learning and development activity, including identifying training needs, sourcing solutions, and maintaining a training plan
- Working with managers and external providers to deliver high-quality development opportunities
- Managing and optimising the LMS, ensuring an engaging user experience and accurate training records
- Evaluating training effectiveness and using data to drive continuous improvement
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a generalist HR role providing advice and support
- Experience coordinating training or learning and development activity
- Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder‑management skills
- An HR qualification (CIPD Level 7) or significant relevant experience
