We are looking to recruit a Housing Technician to work in the Housing Standards Team to promote good quality housing with high standards of housing management in the private rented sector. With the implementation of new legislation, we are keen to engage with, and build strong working relationships with private landlords, letting and managing agents, and tenants to ensure standards are maintained and improved.

This role requires the post holder to be involved in the delivery of effective regulation across the full scope of the housing standards team, including the management of a personal caseload and the provision of professional advice in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, technical standards, and codes of practice. The post holder will be expected to investigate complaints and conduct property inspections so knowledge of building construction and disrepair is required as well as an understanding of carrying out risk assessments.

The post holder will be expected to manage a busy caseload and take decisions on prioritisation of work and determination of risk/harm. Making decisions on appropriate regulatory action is a key part of the role, including service of legal notices, issuing civil penalties, taking statements, producing reports and maintaining up to date and accurate case file/files for legal proceedings as and when required.

This is a full time temporary role for a two year period, working 37 hours Monday to Friday and is based at Morecambe Town Hall.

Salary range
