    About the role

    We are seeking committed, resilient and well organised team players to join our friendly Housing Customer Service Team, delivering a professional, exceptional service to council tenants. You will be the first point of contact for tenants and agencies working with them, providing advice, support and signposting on a wide range of issues.

    You will be great at helping people and working under pressure, sensitively supporting customers from all backgrounds and experiences. You will at times discuss difficult issues with customers and to do so supportively and empathically. The ability to work accurately and to keep good written records is paramount. Ideally you will have previous customer service experience but training in this will be given and continuous professional and personal development is available.

    This is an exciting time to work in Housing. Upcoming changes in legislation mean that local authorities will be expected to work and engage with their tenants in different ways and there will be opportunity for you to contribute to this.

    You will be given a comprehensive induction to the role, where you will be fully supported by existing team and taught everything you need to do the role.

    Currently staff work a minimum of 3 days per week in one of several offices across the city, and the role also allows some home working for the remainder of the week.

    We are constantly adapting our communication styles, providing wider digital options to make our service more accessible to everybody.

    Additional information

    Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining.

    Working arrangements are subject to Government guidance at the time. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
