Housing Options Officer (Housing Advice)
Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join Lancaster City Council as a Housing Options Officer and play a vital role in supporting homeless households. Your work will directly contribute to reducing homelessness and improving housing outcomes, ensuring the Council meets its legal duties with compassion and professionalism.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will assess homeless households, provide expert housing advice, and help discharge the Council’s statutory responsibilities. Building strong relationships with private landlords, social housing providers, and local partners will be key, alongside using your IT skills and clear communication to deliver excellent customer service from Lancaster Town Hall.
You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have a solid understanding of housing legislation and experience in housing advice or homelessness support. You must also be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of housing legislation e.g. Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, Code of Guidance 2006 and Homeless Reduction Act 2017. You’re organised, motivated, and thrive under pressure, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You share our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership, and are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
