We’re recruiting for a Housing Maintenance Manager to join our innovative and welcoming council. In this key role, you’ll work alongside our Empty Homes and Planned Works Manager to lead the delivery of our repairs, empty homes, and stores functions — including oversight of our repairs call handling team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop your teams, embed good practices, and build on our strong tenant satisfaction scores. You’ll play a vital role in shaping services that matter most to our tenants.
You’ll also collaborate closely with colleagues across the Council to help deliver our wider objectives. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our tenants — both now and in the future.
In this dynamic role, you’ll:
- Oversee a comprehensive housing repair service, including repair call handling, work planning, and stores operations.
- Provide effective leadership to the responsive and planned repairs teams, as well as the empty homes function, ensuring KPIs, targets, and objectives are met.
- Deliver cyclical maintenance programmes for housing stock and other assets managed or owned by the Council or third parties.
- Plan works efficiently to maximise resource utilisation and deliver a high-quality, responsive service to tenants.
- Ensure complaints are handled fairly and sensitively, using feedback to drive service improvements.
- Manage an effective stores service, including oversight of related systems, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure targets for customer satisfaction, value for money, and operational performance are consistently achieved.
What you’ll bring:
- Significant experience in a senior managerial role within the public or private sector, dealing with strategically important issues.
- Substantial experience managing building contracts and/or workforces delivering a wide range of maintenance and improvement programmes in the housing sector.
- Proven success in building, managing, and monitoring substantial revenue and capital budgets.
- Considerable experience in analysing housing stock condition data and developing investment strategies to inform and implement business plans.
- A broad and current understanding of social housing, including national, regional, and local agendas, housing legislation, regulation, and best practice in housing asset management and repairs.
- Corporate membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong knowledge and ability to deliver effective risk and financial management, including compliance with Data Protection, Freedom of Information, GDPR, and Health and Safety regulations.
- Daily access to a car (alternatives considered for candidates with a disability under the Equality Act 2010)
