Housing Assessment and Advice Manager
Newcastle City Council is committed to ensuring residents have access to safe, suitable housing and the support they need to prevent or resolve homelessness. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Housing Assessment and Advice Manager to lead the delivery of our Homelessness Prevention Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within Housing Services, responsible for housing advice, homelessness prevention, statutory homelessness assessments and emergency homelessness responses. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services that achieve positive outcomes for residents while meeting the Council's statutory duties.
The Role
As Housing Assessment and Advice Manager, you will provide leadership, direction and support to a team of managers and frontline staff, driving service performance, professional practice and continuous improvement. You will oversee complex housing and homelessness cases, ensuring robust decision-making, effective risk management and compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
Working closely with internal services and external partners, you will help shape and develop services, contribute to strategic priorities and support the delivery of Newcastle's ambitions to prevent homelessness and improve housing outcomes across the city.
We are looking for a confident and approachable leader with substantial experience of managing housing advice, homelessness or related services. You will have excellent knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, strong people management skills and the ability to lead through change while maintaining a focus on service quality and customer outcomes.
In return, we offer the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of Newcastle residents, working within a supportive organisation that values innovation, collaboration and professional development.
At Newcastle City Council, we are Proud, Fair and Ambitious. If you share these values and are passionate about leading services that have a real impact on people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
