Are you passionate about helping people and making a positive difference in your community? We are looking for a motivated Homelessness Triage Officer to join our supportive Housing team. This is a rewarding frontline role where you will help residents facing housing difficulties and work alongside dedicated colleagues who are committed to preventing homelessness and delivering a compassionate, high-quality service.

As the first point of contact for the service, you will provide initial advice and guidance to people experiencing housing problems. You will carry out triage assessments, identify households who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness, and offer clear information on housing options and available support. The role involves managing an initial caseload, maintaining accurate records and working with partner agencies to ensure residents receive the right help as early as possible.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in housing, homelessness services or a similar advice role, who is confident communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You will be organised, able to manage competing priorities, and comfortable making informed decisions in a busy environment. Most importantly, you will have a strong customer focus, good problem-solving skills and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable residents.

The post is offered on a permanent, full time basis (36 hours per week).

Benefits include:

  • 27 – 32 days annual leave (depending on length of Local Gvt Service) - plus all bank holidays
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Flexi-Leave - accrue extra hours & exchange for up to 2 days leave per month
  • Free gym membership
  • Cycle schemes (Cycle to Work Scheme and free Beryl Bike rides for staff)
  • Free wellbeing benefits (such as lunchtime yoga, flu jabs, health MOT)
  • Employee Assistance Programme

The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work up to three days per week from home.

Closing date: Friday 29th May, 10am

Please note: this vacancy may close early depending on the volume of suitable applications received, so we encourage you to apply at your earliest opportunity.
