Salary: £39,027 to £44,463 per annum
Grade: E
Permanent Contract
37 Hours per Week
About the Role
We are seeking a committed and reliable individual to join us as a Highway Inspector. The role provides a varied & interesting opportunity to work as a key member of our Highway Inspection Team. Based at our Operations Depot in West Thurrock, the Highway Inspection Team are responsible for delivering our programme of scheduled highway safety inspections, ad-hoc reactive inspections, inspections relating to customer enquiries and Vehicle Crossover application inspections.
Working closely with colleagues in our Reactive Maintenance Team, you should be able to demonstrate your experience of accurately identifying and recording highway defects as per policy, selecting the appropriate volume and type of material and repair method when raising works orders.
As well as carrying out walked and driven inspections, a key element of the role will involve inspecting sites where Vehicle Crossovers (dropped kerbs) have been applied for, liaising with customers and drawing up construction sketches for approved Vehicle Crossovers.
An awareness and experience of traffic management requirements and legislation involved with the reporting of defects associated with utility apparatus on the public highway is an advantage.
This role involves regular driving duties and involves regularly completing walked inspections outdoors in all weather.
Essential Qualifications:
It is essential that applicants hold a full current UK/EU driving licence and hold a recognised Highway Inspection qualification.
A work vehicle is provided for use whilst carrying out your duties – but not for personal use or commuting.
DBS Check: Not required for this post.
