    We’re Hiring: Two Exciting HLTA Opportunities for Experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants

    HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT

    Salary: £35,520 (pro-rated)

    Hours: 32 hours 30 mins. per week, 8.30 – 3.30 pm (not negotiable)

    Term time only 44.46 weeks only but paid pro rata /split over 52 weeks

    We have a vacancy for two 2 skilled Higher-Level Teaching Assistants, qualified to NVQ3 or equivalent, to join

    Redbridge’s SENDATs (SEND Advisory and Training Service).

    Please note that both posts are peripatetic and the successful candidates will be expected to travel to diverse settings across the borough and manage their travel requirements across the day. This an essential equipment to the role.

    HLTA – Home Tuition Service

    This role is ideal for someone who thrives in varied environments and enjoys working independently as well as part of a wider team.

    We are particularly, though not exclusively, interested in someone who has experience of working in the Secondary Education sector. However, successful candidates may be asked to work across any age range dependent on service delivery.

    What you’ll be doing

    You will support pupils who cannot currently attend school by delivering high quality learning and support in:

    • Students’ homes
    • Care homes
    • Local libraries
    • Mainstream schools

    Support may include:

    • 1:1 tuition in the home
    • Small group sessions
    • Work alongside a teacher as part of a wider educational offer
    • Facilitating reintegration back into mainstream schools

    What we’re looking for

    • Experience supporting learners with Complex Needs
    • Confidence working in different community settings and with families
    • A proactive, solution-focused approach
    • Strong communication and relationship building skills
    • Emotional resilience when managing challenging situations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, and IT skills.

    This is a role for someone who enjoys stepping up, taking responsibility, and making a visible difference to young people and their families.

    HLTA – School Based Role

    If you enjoy the energy of a school environment and want to play a key part in supporting teaching and learning, this role could be perfect for you.

    Supporting in a number of schools across the Borough of Redbridge, you will be:

    • Upskilling mainstream support staff in specialist strategies and interventions
    • Modelling effective practise that promote engagement and inclusion Coaching and mentoring
    • Working closely with SEND Advisory Specialist Teachers to embed recommended strategies
    • Facilitating targeted support to pupils who need an extra boost
    • Promoting and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment
    • deliver a time limited intervention (maximum six weeks) with agreed weekly support focused on staff development

    What we’re looking for

    Experience of supporting pupils with Complex Needs/Autism and related SEMH needs

    • A confident classroom presence
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to motivate and engage pupils
    • Ability to train and inspire adults who support pupils with SEND
    • Strong organisational skills
    • A commitment to helping students achieve their best
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, and IT skills.
