Competitive Salary: total package of £53,926–£66,318
Includes a 25% (taxable) gratuity, paid upon successful completion of contract. Salary on appointment dependent on skills and experience.

The post is for a fixed term of up to four years in the first instance with the possibility of extension. Secondment and Interchange opportunities will be considered.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This truly is an exciting opportunity in an unparalleled location. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Advisor with a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice, with a particular emphasis on a pragmatic approach to instilling a health and safety culture across a public sector organisation.
THE ROLE
Working in what can only be described as a unique and breath-taking environment, the Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for providing expert health and safety advice and support to Directors, Heads of Service, Managers and Employees across the Falkland Islands Government (FIG).
This will involve working closely with relevant officers to develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures, undertaking risk assessments and inspections of workplaces, equipment and activities, and investigating accidents and incidents.
The postholder will work proactively to identify and mitigate workplace risks, foster a positive safety culture, deliver training and awareness programs, and support continuous improvement in health and
safety performance.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of operating in a lead Health and Safety role in an organisation with comparable complexity
- Have first-class knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, current issues and how this interacts with policy and practice
- Have experience of working with complex practices and compliance standards and implementing change
- Have pragmatic and flexible approach to different ways of working, and be receptive to new ideas
- Have strong interpersonal and influencing skills, including the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role of other teams and the value of their contribution
- Hold a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent with Grad IOSH status (Level 5 Qualification)
- Hold or be working toward Chartered Membership of IOSH
