We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety, and Training Officer to work closely with our Waste and Community Services Operational Managers and Health & Safety Team. You will help maintain high standards of health and safety by:
- Investigating and recording incidents and near misses
- Conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments
- Supporting emergency planning activities
- Delivering and coordinating training across services
- Ensuring legislative compliance and supporting safety culture improvements
You will also work closely with managers and HR to embed safety across all levels of service delivery primarily at our Depots in Ivybridge, Kingsbridge and Totnes.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- IOSH Managing Safely (or working towards it)
- Experience in risk assessments, site inspections and delivering training
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation (ideally within waste or public services)
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with Liberty health and safety software
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- First Aid or Fire Safety qualifications
- Instructional training qualifications
- Local authority or public sector experience
