The Isle of Wight Council is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Adviser to join our dedicated team. This is a key role supporting the Council’s commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, occupational health and wellbeing across all services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and implement health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide expert Safety advice to managers and staff
- Complete comprehensive safety audits of Council services, premises and schools
- Review and investigate reports of accidents, incidents, and near misses
- Deliver approved health and safety training packages
- Conduct stress risk assessments and wellbeing surveys to support staff welfare.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role, ideally within a public sector, school or multi-service environment.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and support a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Salary range
- £37,955 - £40,787 per year
