The Role

Knowsley Council are seeking an experienced Head of Service (Safeguarding and Quality Assurance) to join our Children’s Services team for a fixed term 12-month period.

As Head of Service (Safeguarding and Quality Assurance) you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people who access support from our service and their families. With overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and direction of Safeguarding, Quality and Practice across all service areas within children’s social care, you will play a critical role in driving forward service improvement and innovation, helping to ensure high-quality outcomes are achieved for our children and young people from birth to 25 years.

Working as part of a supportive and collaborative senior management team within Children’s Services, you will also support the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team in the achievement of the Council’s priorities, helping to ensure that the Council meets its legal, statutory, and political obligations whilst effectively managing risk.

The Person

As our Head of Service (Safeguarding and Quality Assurance) you will be an enthusiastic leader, with strong evidence of experience as a senior manager in Children’s Social Care, advanced theoretical and practical knowledge across the relevant legislative and statutory frameworks that underpin social work practice as well as substantial experience of successfully implementing strategies to improve services.
