The Head of Energy & Net Zero will provide strategic leadership and corporate accountability for the Council’s energy, decarbonisation, and net zero ambitions, supporting the authority’s commitment to becoming a net zero carbon organisation and place.
The postholder will lead the development and delivery of energy and net zero strategies, oversee large-scale, complex programme’s and work across the Council, with regional partners, government and industry to secure investment, reduce emissions, tackle fuel poverty, and deliver inclusive economic growth.
The key responsibilities include:
- Act as the council’s primary liaison with the LCRCA on all matters relating to Energy and Net Zero, including the delivery of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
- Develop commercially viable energy projects, balancing financial return, carbon reduction and social value.
- Provision of a professional service, providing assurance and risk management to senior leaders in relation to all matters relating to energy management, sustainability and achieving net zero.
- Ensure energy and net zero programmes deliver inclusive outcomes, tackling fuel poverty, health inequalities, and climate vulnerability.
- Ensure systems and frameworks are developed to evaluate and evidence performance effectiveness of the department and ensure the service consistently adds value.

Salary range
- £57,900 - £66,703 per year
