Hastings Embroidery Visitor Services Assistants x 3 – Fixed Term
To coincide with the British Museum's Bayeux Tapestry exhibition, the Hastings Embroidery will be exhibited at Hastings Town Hall between 28th August and 31st October (Thursday – Monday)
As part of the Hastings Museum & Art Gallery team, Visitor Services Assistants will provide a welcoming, informative and customer-focused service to all visitors to the Hastings Embroidery exhibition. They will help maintain a secure environment for the Hastings Embroidery while ensuring the highest standards of presentation throughout the exhibition.
What you’ll do:
- Welcome and assist visitors to the exhibition.
- Answer questions about the Hastings Embroidery and the exhibition.
- Help protect the Embroidery through attentive gallery supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented exhibition space.
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the visitor experience.

About the roles
All posts are offered on a fixed-term basis from 24 August 2026 to 1 November 2026.
Hourly rate: £13.45.
We have three vacancies available:
- 1 x 30-hour post: Thursday to Monday, 9:30am to 4:30pm
- 1 x 12-hour post: Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am to 4:30pm
- 1 x 4-hour post: Saturday and Sunday, 12:00pm to 2:00pm

About the Bayeux Tapestry
The Bayeux Tapestry is one of the world's most famous medieval artworks, depicting the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. For the first time since it was created, it is on loan to the British Museum from 10 September 2026 to 11 July 2027.
About the Hastings Embroidery
Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, the Hastings Embroidery is a 243-foot-long artwork depicting 81 key moments in British history from 1066 to 1966. Created to mark the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, it is one of the town's most significant cultural treasures.
