What You'll Be Doing

As a Group Exercise Instructor (Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Balance, Pilates, Yoga, Aqua aerobics and Pre & Postnatal Afrobeats Dance Instructor), you will lead dynamic courses aimed to improve cardiovascular health, muscle tone, and general fitness levels, promoting total well-being by combining physical exercise, mental attention, and emotional balance. Through aerobics, circuits, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), dance fitness, spin, or body conditioning.

You’ll lead and deliver a variety of high-energy and engaging group fitness classes to members of all abilities. You will be responsible for creating an inclusive, fun, and motivating environment that promotes fitness and wellbeing.

You’ll be working in a brand-new facility with top-of-the-line equipment and support from a friendly and energetic team. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about helping others achieve their fitness goals.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective group exercise classes for a variety of fitness levels
  • Create a positive, supportive atmosphere that encourages participation and inclusivity
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by providing clear instructions and guidance
  • Assist with the development and implementation of class schedules
  • Encourage and motivate participants to reach their personal fitness goals
  • Stay up to date with the latest fitness trends and exercise techniques
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a welcoming, professional environment
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times

What We're Looking For

About you :

  • A nationally recognized Group Exercise Instructor qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in teaching a variety of group exercise classes is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about fitness and helping others succeed
  • Ability to adapt to different fitness levels and create a positive experience for everyone
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain

Pay and Engagement:

We offer these roles on an hourly remuneration, with hourly rates reflecting the class type, experience, and qualifications of the instructor. Working as part of Southwark’s vibrant leisure community, you’ll have the flexibility to deliver sessions that support residents in leading active, healthy lifestyles.

Group Exercise Instructor (Active) £31.14 per hour

Group Exercise Instructor (Holistic) £37.18 per hour

The role is classed as Regulated Activity under safeguarding legislation. To help us ensure the safety and wellbeing of those we support, you’ll be asked to declare all cautions and both spent and unspent convictions as part of the recruitment process.

Southwark Leisure Services operates across several sites, seven days a week from early morning to late night. There is a requirement for the post holder on occasions, to work outside normal office hours and at different venues to meet the needs of the service.
