Lead the transformation of Erewash’s green spaces and street scenes. Make a lasting impact in your community.

Erewash Borough Council is looking for a dedicated and proactive Green Space and Street Scene Supervisor to join Environmental and Community Services. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee the delivery of high-quality services across parks, play areas, and public spaces - ensuring they are safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.

Your Role:

  • Supervise teams working across iconic green spaces like Victoria Park, West Park, and Pewit Coronation Meadows.
  • Manage grounds maintenance, play area inspections, sports pitch upkeep, landscaping, and street cleansing.
  • Respond to issues such as fly-tipping, vandalism, and safety hazards with practical, timely solutions.
  • Support borough-wide events with traffic management and site preparation.
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of play areas and street scene enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and council policies.
  • Monitor contractor performance and maintain inspection schedules.

Be Part of “Wild About Erewash”

This role plays a key part in delivering the council’s “Wild About Erewash” campaign - our commitment to nature restoration, tree planting, and enhancing biodiversity across the borough. You’ll help balance formal and informal green space management, supporting a greener, wilder Erewash for future generations.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in local authority, amenity horticulture, or street cleansing.
  • Strong planning, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • Calm under pressure, fair, professional, and solution focused.
  • Desirable (but not essential): knowledge of play area maintenance, herbicide use, burial operations, sports pitch prep, traffic management, and road sweeping.

Why Work With Us?

  • Make a visible difference in your local community.
  • Be part of exciting environmental and public space initiatives.
  • Work with a supportive team in a varied and rewarding role.
  • Enjoy excellent public sector benefits and career development opportunities.

Benefits of Working for Us:

In addition to a competitive salary, you will also have access to:

  • Generous annual leave package – 29 days annual leave (rising to 33 days after 5 years’ continuous service) plus 8 bank holidays a year
  • Free workplace car parking within the Borough
  • Opportunities for training, learning and continuous professional development
  • Family friendly flexible working policies available
  • Option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) plus access to a salary sacrifice scheme for added voluntary pension contributions
  • Discounted leisure membership with the Fit for Work scheme
  • Access to the VIVUP employee benefits discount and salary sacrifice scheme
