Location: Lincoln (on-site 5 days a week)

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority, supporting the Mayor in delivering their priorities and championing the region.

As Mayor’s Office Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Mayor’s Office. You will oversee and coordinate the Mayor’s diary, communications and casework, acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders and helping to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead a small, dedicated team of two Support Officers, working closely with communications colleagues and the Corporate Leadership Team to provide a professional, responsive and high-quality support service to the Mayor.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same in this role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the primary gateway for the Mayor’s diary, correspondence, communications and casework, ensuring priorities are managed effectively.
  • Providing strategic oversight and triage of the Mayor’s inbox, workload and incoming requests.
  • Leading and supporting a team of Support Officers to deliver a professional, efficient and responsive service.
  • Overseeing the handling of casework, policy enquiries and correspondence from residents, businesses, partners and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of mayoral events, roundtables, visits and summits, ensuring they are well organised and impactful.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders across government, business, the voluntary sector and local communities.
  • Working collaboratively across the Authority to ensure the Mayor is fully briefed and supported in their engagements and decision-making.
  • Representing the Mayor’s Office and the Authority professionally when required.

About You

We're looking for an experienced, organised and people-focused professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys building relationships with a wide range of people.

You will have experience of leading a high-performing support function at a senior level, alongside excellent organisational, communication and people management skills. You will be comfortable working with senior leaders, managing sensitive information and balancing multiple priorities.

This is a politically sensitive post.

You'll bring:

  • Experience of managing and delivering executive support services in a complex organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience of managing and developing a small team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of diary management, casework coordination and handling high volumes of correspondence.
  • Strong political awareness and an understanding of local and national government.
  • Experience of organising events, stakeholder engagements and public-facing activities.
  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. Shorthand or strong note-taking skills would be advantageous.

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to help shape and support a newly established organisation at an exciting stage of its development.

You'll join a passionate and supportive team that is committed to making a positive difference for residents, businesses and communities across Greater Lincolnshire. This role offers a unique blend of leadership, variety and influence, giving you the chance to work closely with the Mayor and senior stakeholders while contributing to the success of the region.

If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can make an impact, lead a dedicated team and play a key part in supporting local leadership, we'd love to hear from you.
