About the team

Hertfordshire Pension Fund is one of 86 local pension funds in The Local

Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The Fund consists of more than 120k

scheme members across more than 500 employers with assets of approximately

£6.3 billion.

This role is to support the Senior Pensions Fund Officer, the Fund Officer within the Hertfordshire Pension Fund (The Fund) team. They will also assist the Assistant Fund Finance Officer post.

About the role

  • The role will be to provide administrative and accountancy support for the delivery of services provided by the team. In addition, it will liaise with external business partners who provide administration, actuarial, banking and accounting services.
  • The role will be responsible for monitoring of Contributions into the fund (approx. £200m per annum), including setting up new fund employers. Reporting late Payers/Contribution submission forms for Pensions Committee and Board for penalties charged.
  • The role holder will produce monthly Reconciliations of income and outgoings relating to the Fund, which directly link to the annual statutory closedown requirements and workings papers for the team, making sure that they can be read and understood by other offices that are part of the annual Closure of Accounts process.

About you

Essential:

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build sound relationships with managers, staff and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to deliver solutions within a team environment
  • Excellent IT skills including application of the Microsoft Office suite of tools, particularly use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and analyse large amounts of information using computerised and manual techniques.
  • The Ability to interrogate SAP and will also have view only access to the third-party administrator's system UPM to assist the Accountancy team with any data related questions.

Desirable:

  • Ability to problem solve and provide innovative solutions/ recommendations, including challenging existing practice.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with all staff up to Director level and external stakeholders, creating trust and confidence.
  • Ability to work within time restraints and deadlines and is very well organised, knowing that time is required by senior officers to review the work that has been completed.
  • Ability to take a pro-active approach to their workload and will let senior officers know if they are potentially struggling to meet deadlines so that the team can reallocated work if required.
