Food Safety/Environmental Health Officer – Food and Safety Team

Salary: Grade E-F (depending on experience).

Part time 22.50 hours (ideally Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)

Are you passionate about protecting public health and helping to shape the future of Environmental Health?

We are seeking a motivated and professional Food Safety/Environmental Health Officer to join our busy and forward‑thinking team. You will carry out food hygiene and health and safety inspections, investigations and complex audits, helping to ensure high standards of compliance across the district. Depending on your experience, you will take on a lead role within a specialist area of food safety or health and safety.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to public health and wellbeing in our community. You will play a vital role in enforcing environmental health legislation, protecting residents, and supporting businesses to promote a safe, healthy and sustainable environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include case management, responding to service requests, undertaking inspections and investigations, and delivering technical support. You will lead, develop and contribute to a range of projects, helping to ensure the team maintains a strong customer focus while remaining up to date with legislative and regulatory changes.

We invite applications for a part-time (22.50 hours), please note that there is a requirement to be office based (Council Offices, Argyle Road, Sevenoaks Kent TN13 1HG) for at least 40% of the time and therefore we are unable to consider applicants who wish to undertake remote working.
