We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

About you…

This is a key role supporting the financial relationship between the council and schools, ensuring accurate, timely and effective financial processing and advice.

Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will be the vital link between schools and the council. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to support financial planning, monitoring and reporting.

About the team…

The CYPL Finance team oversees all financial aspects of the council’s work with children and young people, with this role focusing specifically on schools, budget support and financial compliance.

We are a team that values continuous improvement, shared learning and supporting each other to deliver high-quality services.

The team operates a hybrid working model, with an expectation of a minimum of 2 days per week in the council’s Time Square offices.

Key responsibilities…

  • You will assist with financial services and general support. This involves reporting, creating journals, budget movements, coding corrections and reconciliations.
  • Investigate general financial queries (including supporting the year-end closure and audit requests) and assist in maintaining manual and computerised records including Imprest accounts.
  • You will support the day-to-day processes for the team including but not limited to the preparation of invoicing for Academies.
