We have an exciting opportunity within the Purchasing, Procurement & Contract Management team to join us as a Finance Officer, working within the Purchasing team, to support creation and control of the vendor master data and to support Purchasing activity across the council.
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the due diligence is performed on all suppliers and will maintain the vendor master data for the Council. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining our Purchasing system and for the procurement card administration within the council. There are opportunities to perform project work within these areas and to be pivotal in ensuring that the Council adheres to its best value objectives and enabling approach.

About the role
As Finance Officer, you’ll support the Council’s mission of delivering quality services by ensuring that our suppliers our set up within an agreed Service Level Agreement and liaising with internal services to ensure they have the adequate training and documentation to support them to deliver. This position sits within the Council’s Core Services Directorate (Finance), reporting to the Purchasing & Reporting Manager.

The postholder will adopt a hybrid / agile approach to working arrangements allowing for home working alongside a central office location in Barnsley.
About you
You will need to have experience in a financial services environment, be familiar with Microsoft packages, have a keen eye for detail and be an excellent problem solver. You will also be an excellent team player and a good collaborator.
You will be committed to continuous improvement, a key focus of the Council and demonstrate this by your own desire for continued professional development and training in the role.

Salary range
- £27,711 - £37,035 per year
