About the role
We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our highly motivated Financial Services team, where continuous improvement and value for money are a priority.
This is a key role to where you’ll be providing financial, commercial and strategic support to Service Managers alongside project support for the transformation of services.
The main focus of this role will be to support our Housing Revenue Account (HRA) services.
The role will be office based with the option of hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office.
Responsibilities will include -
- Provide finance business partnering to stakeholders across the organisation.
- Build strong working relationships with budget managers by spending time working closely with services to enhance the finance offer.
- Advise budget managers and Chief Officers on various financial matters that could include the usage of grants and reserves.
- To Support the annual budget setting process, working with Lead Accountants to ensure that a balanced medium-term financial plan/capital programme is delivered in accordance with legislative requirements and accounting standards
- Assist the budget monitoring process, with responsibility for supporting budget managers and Chief Officers, producing and presenting Finance and Performance reports for the target audience
- Assist with the production of the Council’s Financial Statements, Whole of Government Accounts and the external audit
About you
This is a great role either for someone who’s an experienced Finance Business Partner or similar, or someone with the aspirations, skills and abilities to be one.
Alongside a minimum of AAT qualification (or other equivalent qualification) you’ll need experience of working in a finance environment and be competent in the use of a financial management system to produce budget reporting, annual accounts and financial statements in accordance with the CIPFA Accounting Code of Practice.
You’ll need excellent stakeholder communication and management skills, being a great communicator including being able to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff.
