Family Time Coordinator

Job description

Family time, those precious moments we all take for granted. But some of our children and young people who are cared for away from their home may not always have the opportunity to connect with their family or network without the support of services, making this time even more important.

An opportunity has arisen to be part of our Family Time Service, you will be fundamental in creating the right space for our children and young people to meet, play, talk, laugh and make memories with their family and network.

You will also have the privilege to walk alongside our children, young people and families in developing and strengthening their relationships and working towards reunification where it is right for our children and young people.

We are looking for creative, enthusiastic and hard working colleagues to drive our model of Family Time in the right direction for our children, young people and families.

You will need to be flexible and adaptable, as the role will not follow general ‘9-5’ working hours, instead will enable you to be innovative with your time to meet the needs of our children, young people and families and support them in connection at the right time and place for them.

A flexible and open approach to travel and transport will be an essential aspect of this role. Working within a large geographical area, and at times outside the Local Authority boundary.

Our service will be community based, connecting our families within their communities and in a space that feels comfortable and appropriate for them, you will need to be resourceful to enable this, connecting your local links and knowledge within this role.

Your role will be integral in supporting our Children’s Social Work colleagues in getting the right outcomes for children and young people, supporting assessment activity, offering a helping hand in empowering families with their plans and essential work piecing a child or young person’s experience with services and creating valuable memories.

Does this sound like you?

If so we would love to hear from you.

Our model ‘Stronger Together’

‘You can, I can, We can’

We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.

We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety much more clearly with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families, and communities.

Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.
