About the role

This is a fixed term contract up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.

As Children’s Services are improving, exciting new opportunities have opened in the Children in Care Service based in Northampton, but providing support to families and children, who reside county wide.

We are looking to recruit a Family Support Worker to be part of the team building meaningful relationships with children and their families helping them grow, prosper and achieve.

What will you be doing?

The primary focus of work will be with children and families who are looked after by the Local Authority. The worker will need to be self-motivated and have the ability and skills to provide key pieces of direct work to children and families and to work with multi agency colleagues. The post is predominantly working with children and families who are subject to care proceedings and the work will centre around promoting family time, supporting in the completion of assessment and enabling rehabilitation.

About you

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, highly motivated, has the ability to work both independently and in a team and have experience of working directly with families and children. The role will be based in Northampton but staff will be required to move effectively across the county and beyond if required. The successful candidate will need some experience in working with children and families, have the ability to support with assessment based work and good recording skills.

The success candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check.
