    Join Our Early Help and Prevention Team as a Family Support Worker, we have the following positions available:

    2 Full time Permanent posts

    1 Fixed Term / Secondment (Maternity Cover) for 1 Year

    The Service

    The Early Help and Prevention Service in Portsmouth is a new way of doing things providing extra practical help with families early on, to stop problems getting worse.We talk with families about the things that are most important to them, what might help and what we can do differently to help them. This is how we start working together with the whole family to help get things back on track.

    The Role

    As a Family Support Worker, you’ll work directly with families and young people to assess needs, provide practical support, and help them build sustainable solutions.You’ll be part of a multi-agency team, delivering early help to prevent issues from escalating and reduce demand on statutory services.


    Your responsibilities will include:

    Conducting early help assessments and creating tailored support plans

    Delivering direct work on issues such as emotional wellbeing, behaviour, substance misuse, relationships, housing, and income

    Promoting healthy lifestyles and emotional health in schools and colleges

    Facilitating group activities and supporting young people in various settings

    Acting as lead professional and coordinating multi-agency support

    Representing the service at community events and meetings

    The Ideal Candidate will have/be

    Qualified to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, or have relevant experience

    Experienced in working with children, young people, and families

    Skilled in safeguarding and child development

    Restorative in approach, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement

    Excellent communicators with strong IT and record-keeping skills

    Flexible, proactive, and confident in multi-agency environments

    Able to travel across Portsmouth (car driver or access to public transport)

    Working Arrangements:

    Attendance requirements to the designated workplace for the role in line with the Hybrid - Working a minimum of3days in the office per week
