
Family Hub Coach
The Family Hubs Financial Wellbeing Coaches will play a key role in supporting individuals and families across Staffordshire to improve their financial resilience, reduce the impact of poverty, prevent financial crisis and achieve positive long-term outcomes. Working within Family Hubs and community settings, the post holders will provide tailored one-to-one and group-based support to help residents maximise income, manage household budgets, access welfare benefits, reduce debt, and overcome barriers affecting both their own and their families financial wellbeing.
Using a strengths-based approach, the Coaches will build trusted relationships with families, empowering them to make informed financial decisions and develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to achieve greater financial stability. They will undertake assessments, identify individual needs, and coordinate appropriate interventions across local communities and organisations.
The roles require effective partnership working with a range of agencies, community organisations, and statutory services to ensure families receive the right support at the right time. You will identify wider issues impacting financial wellbeing, including housing, unemployment, health, safeguarding concerns, and family circumstances, making referrals and signposting to appropriate early help services where required.
In addition you will have an awareness of the wider needs of families and be confident in signposting to alternative early help support services.
You will be expected to deliver financial wellbeing workshops, outreach activities, and group sessions, promoting independence, resilience, and financial capability within local communities. Through early intervention, preventative support, and collaborative working, the Financial Wellbeing Family Hub Coaches will help families confidently tackle their financial challenges, prevent crisis, and make sustainable changes to improve their long time stability.
Fixed Term Contract until 31/3/28
Main Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one financial wellbeing support to individuals and families, helping them to maximise income, access benefits, manage debt, improve budgeting skills and build long-term financial resilience.
- Carry out assessments to identify financial and wider support needs, working with residents to develop personalised action plans and achieve positive outcomes.
- Deliver financial wellbeing workshops, group sessions and outreach activities within Family Hubs and community settings to promote financial capability and independence.
- Build trusted relationships with residents, using a strengths-based approach to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions and improve their financial circumstances.
- Work collaboratively with Family Hub teams, community organisations, and partner agencies to provide coordinated support and improve access to relevant services.
- Identify wider issues affecting financial wellbeing, including housing, employment, health, safeguarding concerns, domestic abuse, mental health, or substance misuse, and ensure appropriate referrals and interventions are made.
- Signpost residents to appropriate services, activities, and support networks which tackle the root cause of poverty and improve mental wellbeing, life opportunities, personal independence and education.
- Maintain accurate records, and monitoring information, ensuring compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and organisational procedures.
- Respond effectively to safeguarding, risk and financial hardship situations, providing timely advice, support and, where appropriate, access to emergency assistance.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Financial Wellbeing Service, promoting prevention, early intervention, and positive outcomes for Staffordshire residents.

We are looking for a passionate, and highly motivated individuals who are committed to making a meaningful difference to the lives of individuals and families across Staffordshire. The ideal candidates will have experience working directly with people in a support, advice, education, community, or family-focused environment and will possess a strong understanding of the challenges associated with poverty, financial exclusion, and vulnerability. They will be empathetic, approachable, and non-judgemental, with the ability to build trusting relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. A strong understanding of the barriers households face and a genuine desire to help individuals overcome them is essential.
They will adopt a "no wrong door" approach, taking ownership of a household's needs and ensuring they receive joined-up, holistic support rather than simply being passed between services or signposted elsewhere. They will recognise that financial hardship is often linked to wider challenges and will work collaboratively with partners to address the root causes affecting a families wellbeing.
The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient, proactive, and solutions-focused, with the confidence to manage challenges effectively and make sound decisions independently. They will demonstrate a good understanding and have some experience of delivering financial community based support . They will be able to problem-solve in partnership with individuals by enabling them to make positive decisions and changes about their circumstances, taking responsibility for finding practical solutions and overcoming obstacles. Excellent communication, organisational and partnership-working skills are essential, alongside a commitment to safeguarding, equality, continuous improvement and empowering residents to build long-term financial resilience and independence.

Salary range
