The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Facilities Team Leader to join our FM Team. The FM Team are responsible for ensuring all aspects of the delivery of safe, clean and efficient facility support function at the service buildings and venues.

In this role, you will; be required to supervise a team running facility support and operations to ensure a safe and accessible venue environment. Roles at this level are expected to work unsupervised for much of the time, accessing and assessing information independently. .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specifically at The Campus, to work with all building partners in ensuring the effective and safe delivery of activity alongside those of the building partners including schools, community users and other agencies.
  • To ensure safe an efficient management of Building maintenance, ensuring stock of cleaning materials and maintenance equipment and materials and monitoring aspects of cleaning/maintenance/compliance contracts.
  • Complete all team paperwork to track hours worked, payments and absences and ensure team members are adequately trained.
  • Establish & maintain appropriate links between colleagues, the public, businesses, community users and other services to assist with access to public and school buildings services and ensure continued effective partnerships.
  • Supervision of work and day to day management for the team undertaking similar activities.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

Work Style

At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Fixed Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

  • 4+ days in the office.
  • Spends most or all of their time in the office, due to nature of the work but can be for reasons such as unsuitable home working conditions or a desire for separation of home and work life.
  • The office remains a shared space with cultural encouragement for clear desk policies.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about overseeing the maintenance, cleanliness and functionality of a building’s infrastructure and services, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Significant practical experience of working with customers giving rise to a variety of technical skills and sound understanding of the services available, work practices and processes relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical standards, safe working practices and legislation for service areas.
  • Experience of supervising others and allocating work.
  • Specific knowledge about safe systems of work with chemicals, building maintenance and compliance and public safety at venues.
  • Ability to manage own work without close supervision.
