About the Role

Woking Borough Council are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to lead our facilities team in delivering high-quality hard and soft services across our estate. This is a key leadership role within the Property Services Team with responsibility for ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement in all aspects of facilities management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary facilities team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Oversee the delivery of hard services (e.g., M&E, building fabric, compliance) and soft services (e.g., cleaning, security, waste management, CCTV monitoring).
  • Manage and optimise energy usage, driving sustainability initiatives and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of CCTV and security systems.
  • Develop and manage budgets, contracts, and service level agreements with external suppliers and contractors.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs and ensure compliance with health & safety, statutory, and environmental regulations.

About You

  • Proven experience in facilities management, in a team leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of both hard and soft FM services.
  • Experience in energy management and sustainability practices.
  • Familiarity with CCTV systems, access control, and security protocols.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g, IWFM) is essential.
