    We’re looking for an experienced Executive Support Manager to provide high-impact support to our Executive Director, Environment & Communities, and the Departmental Management Team (DMT). You’ll run a first-class executive office, lead our PA network, and drive cross cutting projects that move the Directorate forward.
    The role

    - Executive office lead, act as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, managing day-to-day office operations and drafting high quality letters, briefings and reports for senior officers and Members.
    - Team leadership, line-manage the PA network supporting Three Directors and Three Heads of Service, ensuring clear objectives, performance, development and wellbeing for 2–3 direct reports.
    - Governance & meetings, coordinate Cabinet Member, budget-holder and cross-departmental meetings; set agendas, prepare papers, record decisions and track follow through to completion.
    - Corporate reporting, oversee Cabinet Member Reports, Operational Reports, Cabinet and Scrutiny submissions, presenting when required.
    - Senior representation, represent the Executive Director/DMT at key meetings and prepare briefings with the Chief Executive, Members and senior officers.
    - Project delivery, lead cross-cutting projects from concept to completion, coordinating senior stakeholders across Council locations.
    - Budget management, manage the Executive Director’s Office budget, liaise with external contractors/consultants and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

    About you
    You’re a proactive organiser and confident decision maker who thrives in a complex, fast paced environment. You bring:

    - Proven experience delivering change and projects from definition through to implementation, with strong planning, prioritisation and risk awareness.
    - Outstanding communication, able to influence at senior levels and produce clear, accurate written work; excellent spoken English when advising the public.
    - Leadership & integrity, a role-model who sets high standards, manages performance fairly, and handles sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
    - Collaborative style, skilled at building networks and working across services to get results; politically aware and customer focused.
    - Digital confidence, comfortable with Microsoft Office and management information tools.
    - Qualifications, Secretarial/PA or Business Administration (or equivalent experience). Flexibility to work hours aligned to the Executive Office.

    Salary range

    • £42,771 - £45,750 per year
