
Estates Surveyor
We’re looking for a motivated Estates Surveyor to help manage and optimise the Council’s diverse property portfolio—supporting day‑to‑day operations and longer‑term strategy so assets deliver strong financial and operational performance in line with TWBC’s Corporate Objectives and Asset Management Plan. You’ll contribute to major projects, lease events, and assist on short, medium and long‑term asset strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing professional estates advice to elected members, senior management and the public.
- Instructing and monitoring internal/external solicitors, surveyors and advisors.
- Managing part of the portfolio, dealing with tenants ensuring rents are paid & lease obligations are carried out.
- Maintaining the Civica Property database & asset register, GIS records.
- Negotiating lease renewals, rent reviews, assignments, licences for alterations, wayleaves and easements aligned to the Property Asset Management Plan.
- Acting as client lead on property projects; contributing to corporate project teams/steering groups.
- Get involved in Department & Council project teams and steering groups.
- Supporting the formulation/coordination of the Council’s Property Asset Management Plan and the annual asset valuation programme with Finance.
- Demonstrating a commitment to equality, diversity and health & safety and engaging in ongoing CPD.
About you
Essential
- A minimum of two years experience in a Commercial Property environment
- Experience of working in a busy environment and engaging with the general public.
- Commercial and/or residential property experience.
- Completed or nearing completion of APC.
- Relevant degree or substantial work experience in a property‑focused environment; GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
- Strong IT skills (MS Office); knowledge of and interest in the property market.
- Full UK driving licence; excellent attention to detail and time management; able to work unsupervised; keen to develop professionally.
- Knowledge of Landlord & Tenant legislation; experience using and maintaining property management systems.
Desirable
- Experience of land sales & property development
