
Environmental Health Officer - Private Sector Housing
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Salary: Career Graded SK12-SK15 (£37,467-£41,979 per annum)
Contract: Permanent
The post holder will be part of a team delivering the council’s private sector housing enforcement functions. The role will include undertaking housing inspections, making assessments using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and inspecting and licensing houses in multiple occupation and caravan sites.
We are seeking a motivated and keen individual to join our Private Sector Housing Team, the role will cover all elements of the Private Sector Housing regulatory compliance including property inspections, enforcement of standards and will have a particular focus on Houses in
Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and the mandatory licensing regime.
This is an excellent opportunity for an officer with a strong interest in improving housing standards, protecting vulnerable tenants, and ensuring compliance with housing legislation across the private rented sector.
You will play a key role in delivering proactive and reactive enforcement work, supporting licensing schemes, and contributing to the Authority’s wider housing and public health priorities.
Responsible to: Environmental Health Manager (PSH/EP/DFG)
