    Chelmsford’s Public Health and Protection Services is looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their Housing Standards Team. If you are interested in a field of Environmental Health and wish to have a real impact on quality of life, look no further than housing standards. As we get set to embrace the introduction of the new Renters Rights legislation, we can promise you an interesting, varied and challenging workload.

    The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to deal with a complete range of housing regulatory activities including complaint investigation and enforcement, the assessment and licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and caravan sites as well as assisting with the monitoring of remediation of mid and high rise buildings.

    The role requires comprehensive knowledge of housing legislation, guidance and HHSRS – however support and additional training will be available.We always aim to provide the highest standards of customer service, therefore the post holder will need to possess excellent communication and organisational skills to manage what will be a diverse and demanding workload.

    A full driving licence is required for this role and the nature of the work means that you will need to undertake some activities outside normal office hours. Council Chelmsford City Council operates a flexible working day based on 37 hours per week.
