We are looking for a qualified and motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Protection Team at Welwyn Hatfield.

In this role, you will play a key part in protecting public health and responding to complaints and service requests across the borough.

You will work with a wide range of businesses and stakeholders, providing clear advice, taking proportionate enforcement action, and contributing to safer communities across the borough.

Key Responsibilities:
- To discharge the Council's responsibilities under environmental protection legislation and interpretation of compliance with legal requirements.
- Conduct investigations of incidents, persons, premises or activities as required for the service area
- To work both as part of a team and independently, seeing cases through from start to completion, including the service of notices and preparing prosecution cases, whilst maintaining accurate records.
- Provide input into licensing and planning consultations.
- Manage a varied caseload effectively.
- To work in partnership with other teams within the Council and outside agencies to deliver the best outcomes within the legislation and means available to the service.
- To provide an excellent service to residents to promote a better environment and healthy lifestyle using a range of intervention strategies, including enforcement, education and advice.

About You:
- You will be a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner and have a degree or equivalent qualification.
- A track record of seeing complex cases through to conclusion and seeking service improvements.
- Ideally, experienced in environmental protection related matters, and confident in making proportionate decisions.
- Strong communicator, well organised, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.

The role is hybrid with office attendance 2/3 days a week, subject to service needs. You will be required to attend the office more often during your training. This role involves working outside of normal office hours when required, including occasional evenings.

The post holder will have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to travel across the borough.
