    Environmental Health Officer – Food, Health & Safety & Animal Licensing

    £39,152 – £41,771 per annum plus £2,000 Market Supplement (Pay award pending)

    We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to carry out the full range of day-to-day functions and duties of an Environmental Health Officer, in accordance with legislative requirements and the Council’s policies and objectives.

    The successful candidate will be innovative and forward thinking and be required to provide a high-quality service to the public, the business community, internal departments, and external organisations. You will assist in achieving the Environmental Health Section’s aim to maintain and improve environmental conditions to the benefit of public health.

    A demonstrable record of relevant experience in food safety and health and safety at work are essential criteria for this position and you will be qualified to Diploma or Degree level in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and hold or be working towards CIEH Certificate of Registration.

    You will be an excellent communicator with a strong commitment to excellent customer service and be able to deal effectively with difficult situations achieving positive outcomes.

    A commitment to team working is paramount to this post as is the requirement and ability to analyse complex information and make informed decisions with often conflicting demands and keep up to date with current legislation, regulations, guidance, and technical developments.

    You will be required to undertake inspections and audits associated with the beauty industry, including massage or special treatments. You may be required to respond to service requests relating to environmental protection concerns.

    You will be required to undertake a qualification to complete inspections for licensed animal establishment

    This is a demanding job with a varied workload and a requirement to meet strict deadlines with a risk-based approach, therefore a high level of self-motivation and the ability to take the lead and make decisions on specific pieces of work are essential qualities.

    Applications are invited from candidates with a Degree in Environmental Health who have completed their professional registration, although consideration will also be given to newly qualified candidates, and to those who have almost completed their professional EHORB registration.
