This is your opportunity to take on a high-impact leadership role at a pivotal time. With the expansion of our selective licensing scheme across 10 wards and new powers under the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we regulate, enforce, and improve housing conditions across the borough.
At Islington, we believe everyone deserves a safe, well‑managed home — and you’ll help make that a reality.
The Role
You’ll lead a team of officers in either our proactive or reactive service, driving performance and delivering strong regulatory outcomes.
You will:
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team
- Drive inspections, investigations and enforcement action
- Take ownership of complex cases, prosecutions and appeals
- Act as a technical expert in housing legislation
- Use data and insight to improve performance and outcomes
- Lead on shaping policy, procedures, systems and service improvements
- Support delivery of new powers under the Renters’ Rights Act 2025
About You
You are a confident, solutions-focused leader with:
- Environmental Health qualifications and experience in the regulation of the Private Rented Sector.
- Management or supervisory experience
- A strong track record in enforcement and complex casework
- Excellent knowledge of key housing legislation
- The ability to lead teams, make decisions and drive results
- Strong communication skills and a resident-focused mindset
