OneTeam Band 7 £34,314 - £37,938 per annum
(Starting salary dependent upon skills and qualifications, progression subject to satisfactory performance)

Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council work in partnership and the Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Officer role will provide support to both organisations.
About the role:
Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council, working together as part of the One Team, are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Emergency Planning Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This vital role will focus on reviewing and enhancing our current emergency preparedness and response arrangements, with a particular emphasis on out-of-hours response plans. You will ensure that our emergency and business continuity plans are robust, up to date, and fit for purpose, supporting the Councils’ ability to respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
In addition you will need to support the Corporate Manager for Facilities & Compliance, Director if Assets & Investments and other senior officers in the coordination of responses to Emergency planning/Business Continuity.
You will also be expected to work with partners in relation to specific risks and as part of the multi-agency work of the Essex Resilience Forum.
The post has responsibility for ensuring relevant information is provided to support the Council[s] out of hours service, in particular that process maps and contact details are kept up to date and relevant. You will work with the Corporate Managers to ensure that correct information is available to enable the effective delivery of the out of hours service.
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Planning Officer with a working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act and a good understanding of the part Local Authorities play in the response to a major incident. You should be able to develop and deliver training and exercises and have good interpersonal skills to be able to confidently present to audiences at all levels of staff and management.
You must be able to respond in a measured way in a crisis and be able to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise way in a pressurised environment.
