
Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Lead

About the role
The post has a diverse responsibility which includes:
- Being the lead competent person within the Council providing corporate advice and support on emergency planning, business continuity and public safety.
- Developing Emergency Plans for Reading Borough Council, including those statutory requirements imposed by the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
- Being the lead tactical advisor for the Council’s response to emergencies, and reporting to senior managers and elected members, making recommendations for the Council’s response.
- Working with the Local Resilience Forum and other Berkshire Unitary Authority Emergency Planning Officers including planning and participating in the joint response with the emergency services and other organisations during major incidents.
- Supporting the building of community resilience amongst partner organisations in the Thames Valley.
- Providing support and advice to Council teams to ensure that they are able to continue to deliver critical services during major incidents.
- Coordinating and delivering training to the on-call emergency response team to ensure that they are competent.
About you
This post will suit an experienced emergency planner who is able to demonstrate leadership skills during major incidents. You will be able to interpret complex situations and provide practical solutions to a diverse audience.
