Job Introduction

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our Housing Maintenance team. In this varied and rewarding role, you will carry out high-quality electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation work across a range of Council-owned properties, including tenants’ homes, communal areas, and public buildings.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our homes are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard, while delivering excellent customer service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a wide range of electrical repairs, fault finding, and installations, including full rewires and circuit installations
  • Install and maintain systems such as central heating circuits, extractor fans, and containment systems (conduit/trunking)
  • Undertake electrical testing and complete certification accurately using mobile technology
  • Deliver high standards of customer care, communicating clearly with residents and colleagues
  • Plan and manage your own workload effectively, ensuring work is completed on time and to quality standards
  • Carry out a range of multi-skilled tasks such as basic carpentry, plaster patching, plumbing, and brickwork
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Council policies at all times

We are seeking someone who is experienced, reliable, and committed to delivering excellent service.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience in electrical work, ideally within social housing or domestic environments
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage your own workload
  • Competent in using mobile devices to receive and record work activities

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • AM2 Practical Assessment
  • City & Guilds 2382 (Wiring Regulations)
  • City & Guilds 2391 (Testing & Inspection)

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence is essential
  • Participate in an out-of-hours emergency rota
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying environments, including outdoors in all weather conditions
