Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council is looking for a motivated Electoral Services Officer to join our friendly and busy Electoral Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering elections, referendums, and maintaining the Register of Electors, ensuring that residents can participate in the democratic process.
As an Electoral Services Officer, you will report to the Senior Electoral Services Officer and Head of Electoral Services. Your role will be to assist the team to deliver smooth and efficient electoral services in our Borough. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and updating the Register of Electors, including managing absent voters and election staffing records.
- Handling public and stakeholder enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate and professional responses.
- Assisting in the planning, organisation, and delivery of elections, referendums, and statutory polls.
- Supporting voter engagement campaigns to encourage participation in elections.
- Keeping up to date with electoral legislation and ensuring compliance with the Elections Act 2022.
- Carrying out general administrative duties, including data entry, document scanning, and customer service.
- Assisting in the preparation, compilation, and publication of key electoral documents.
- Handling and transporting election materials such as ballot boxes when required.
We are looking for someone who is organised and detail-oriented, with excellent administrative skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, capable of handling enquiries professionally and diplomatically. Proficiency in IT will be essential, with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel. Experience in Electoral services and software an advantage, but not essential.
This role requires flexibility, especially during election periods when additional hours will be necessary, including evenings and weekends.

This post is currently offered as a part-time vacancy working 29.5 hours per week, however we are seeking approval to increase this to a full time post. It is likely that this post will move to full-time hours following Members decision in October 2025. Please can you specify in your application whether you are interested in full time hours, part time hours (29.5) or both.
